Self Help Quote Page

Welcome to the Self Help Quote page. This web site is about setting and achieving personal goals. To see more goals articles please go to our achieve your personal goals or setting goals pages.

You can find self help quote lists on several web sites. For example, I think that www.motivational-inspirational-corner.com is a good site. You can also find other self help information there, and sign up there for a free motivational newsletter if you like.

If you'd like a guide to the rest of this web site please go the Achieve Your Personal Goals page.

The quotes on this page are somewhat different than the lists you'll find on other sites. What I've done here is to extract some key quotes from one of the books that I've reviewed on this web site and which is very relevant to helping you achieve your goals.

The book is PsychoCybernetics, written in 1960 by Dr Maxwell Maltz. Dr Maltz expained that, if we want to achieve a goal, we need to develop a matching self-image. For example, if you have a goal to achieve a certain level of physical fitness you need to be able to 'see yourself' as the sort of person who can achieve that.

If your current self-image does not match your goal, there's no need to be concerned. You can change your self-image through a wide variety of techniques, as explained in the book. You can learn more about the principles of Psycho-Cybernetics in the audio program The New PsychoCybernetics.

A SELF HELP QUOTE SELECTION
(Drawn from the classic 1960 self help book, Psycho-Cybernetics, by Dr Maxwell Maltz)

"The 'self-image' sets the boundaries of individual accomplishment. It defines what you can and cannot do. Expand the self-image and you expand the 'area of the possible'."

"The secret is this: to really 'live', that is to find life reasonably satisfying, you must have an adequate and realistic self image that you can live with."

"Our self image prescribes the limits for the accomplishment of any particular goals. It prescribes the 'area of the possible'."

"Your automatic creative mechanism is teleological. That is, it operates in terms of goals and end results. Once you give it a definite goal to achieve you can depend upon its automatic guidance system to take you to that goal much better than 'you' ever could by conscious thought."

"The method itself consists in learning, practicing, and experiencing, new habits of thinking, imagining, remembering, and acting in order to (1) develop an adequate and realistic self-image, and (2) use your creative mechanism to bring success and happiness in achieving particular goals."

Why Self Image is Vital to Success

If you're not aware why and how your subconscious beliefs can help or hinder your chances of achieving your personal goals, have a look at the teachings of Dr Maxwell Maltz on the importance of your self image.
