Self Help Book Reviews

Welcome to the Self Help Book page. This web site is about setting and achieving personal goals. To see more goals articles please go to our achieve your personal goals or setting goals pages.

Favourite books are partly a matter of taste, so what I've done is to ensure that all the books I've chosen have good reviews from amazon readers.

The other point of course is that each book that I've chosen is relevant to helping you achieve your goals.

For each book I have provided the link to amazon, so you can see for yourself what other readers say. Also, there are links to my reviews for each self help book.

It's difficult to select a top three but I've done my best! I'm intending to write some more reviews for books that make it into my top 10 or so but are outside the top three.

The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People Stephen Covey

This book was very important to getting me started on the self improvement path and remains important to me today. Begin with the end in mind, and put first things first are key habits for achieving goals.

My book review

Psycho-Cybernetics Dr Maxwell Maltz

I came across this classic 1960 book written by Dr Maxwell Maltz much later - in fact after I had read many other self help books. So it had to be good to 'stand out from the crowd' - and it was. The style is a bit dated but it's the principles that count. The key learning for me was the need to work on your self-image so you are ready to achieve your goals.

My book review.

The 80/20 Principle Richard Koch

The idea behind this book is to spend time thinking about the most effective ways to achieve your goal, and then to take appropriate action. We can run around all day being 'busy fools', but are we spending time on 'high leverage' activities that will have maximum results?

My book review.

Why Self Image is Vital to Success

If you're not aware why and how your subconscious beliefs can help or hinder your chances of achieving your personal goals, have a look at the teachings of Dr Maxwell Maltz on the importance of your self image.

One of my favorite goals experts is Gary Ryan Blair - the 'Goals Guy'. Clicking on the Set Your Goals Now image takes you straight to his web site.
