Goals Book Review

Goal Setting 101 - Gary Ryan Blair

Welcome to the Goals Book page. This web site is about setting and achieving personal goals. To see more goals articles please go to our achieve your personal goals or setting goals pages.

I came across this goals book while researching material for the Make Your Goals Happen web site.

There are some 300-page books you read that leave you thinking, 'he could have written that in 2 pages'.

Goal Setting 101 is the complete opposite.

Gary Ryan Blair's 'book' is just 40 pages long but leaves you thinking, 'he could have written that in 300 pages'!

In fact this is a booklet rather than a book, and it's jam packed with practical advice.

It's almost written in the style of an exam revision booklet. If you had to sit an exam tomorrow on goal setting, this would be a great book for revising the key points.

By the way, before we go further into this book let me tell you that Gary Ryan Blair terms himself 'The GoalsGuy'. The booklet is divided into four main sections: Fundamentals, Planning, Execution, and finally Managing Your Success. Each section is split into about ten subsections, each roughly half a page long. So, for example, the important topic of 'writing down your goals' is dealt with on half of page 19!

Normally I wouldn't recommend such a short booklet - but this is an exception. Here are the reasons why.

First, I think that Gary Ryan Blair gives excellent advice on goal setting. Personally, I would much prefer to read 40 pages of useful advice rather than 300 pages of waffle.

Second, he has created quite a few goals related books, ebooks, and audio programs. You could buy Goal Setting 101 as an introduction so you can see whether you like the style and, more importantly, whether you find the advice of value.

Third, it provides a very useful overview of goal setting. The way my brain works, I like to get an overview so I don't get bogged down in too much detail.

Also, this could be a useful goals book for introducing the fundamentals of goal setting to children, as noted by a couple of readers at Amazon.

Why Self Image is Vital to Success

If you're not aware why and how your subconscious beliefs can help or hinder your chances of achieving your personal goals, have a look at the teachings of Dr Maxwell Maltz on the importance of your self image.
