Setting Career Goals
Welcome to the
Career Goals
page. This web site is about setting and achieving personal goals. To see more goals articles please go to our achieve your personal goals or setting goals pages.
Setting a goal around your career choices and objectives is important because you spend so much of your time 'at work'. Each week lasts 168 hours. The standard working week takes up 40 hours - and then there's often time spent travelling to and from work. So a large proportion of our waking hours is taken up with work.
So,if you want to get the most out of life, your career choice is vital. There are two ways a particular job can help you. First, you may be lucky enough to find a job which in itself brings you great fulfilment. So, even if you didn't need the money, you would still choose to do that work. Second, the job could bring you enough money or possibly other benefits so you gain more choices in life. For example, you could take a job to save money to go on a round the world trip. Or you could gain fulfilment from charity work in your 'spare time'. If you'd like to read more on why all this is important, you can read my benefits of setting career goals article. So what goals guidance is there for choosing your line of work, and also for successfully gaining the job you want? Well, here's one question you could ask when it comes to choosing a fulfiling job:
What work would I like to do if I was already financially secure?
That can be a difficult question. If you'd like further guidance I suggest you have a look at my personal strategic plan article. When it comes to how you can best go about setting goals in general, have a look at my setting goals article.
